These pegs are ideal for campers who want to save time and effort when setting up their shelter. The only flaw is that you do require a drill, which may not be practical for all campers. In saying that though, I promise you won’t be disappointed if you go down this road. I get flashbacks on hammering in the standard pegs provided, becoming exhausted and frustrated when you can’t get them into solid ground. I stumbled across these at a local camp store and gee whizz, my next camping setup was and absolute breeze, the easiest beer I have ever earned!
Steel Pegs:
Standard steel pegs are a reliable and durable option for all types of camping. They are suitable for use in both soft and hard ground and can handle moderate winds. These pegs are strong, durable, and easy to use, making them a popular choice among campers. As mentioned above they can however require a bit of grunt and manipulation to get them in the ground. I always keep a set handy, just in case. You can’t go wrong with the basics.
Plastic Pegs:
Standard plastic pegs are a lightweight and easy-to-use option for campers. They are popular due to their low cost and ease of use, but they may not be suitable for windy conditions or hard ground as they can be prone to bending or breaking. I personal haven’t had a lot of experience with This particular peg. I’d recommend saving them for the little things that need to be secured and won’t cause havoc if it was to come loose.
Nail-In Pegs:
Nail-in pegs are a durable option for campers who are looking for a secure hold in hard, rocky terrain where other pegs may not be suitable. These pegs are easy to use and can provide a secure hold, but they can be more challenging removing from the ground. They are best used in rocky or hard terrain and are not recommended for use in soft ground or windy conditions.
